Leclerc on Ferrari's strategies: 'Of course sometimes it is a bit worse'
Charles Leclerc is having a disappointing season so far in 2023. There were high expectations for Ferrari at the start of this season, but after seven races, the Monegasque driver only sits seventh in the championship. However, there are some improvements compared to the Prancing Horse's 2022 season, as Leclerc claims things are improving at the Scuderia in terms of race strategies.
In 2022, Ferrari regularly made things very difficult for Leclerc in the race due to poor strategy. In Monaco and Silverstone, for instance, the Monegasque had the lead for a long time, but due to a blundering Ferrari, Leclerc ended up finishing outside the podium in both races. Also, in Brazil, Ferrari came up with an unusual strategy for Leclerc, but this time it was in qualifying. Here, Ferrari sent the Monegasque onto the almost dry track on the intermediates while all other drivers were on the slicks.
Ferrari's strategies now better
In 2023, Ferrari's strategies are improving, Leclerc told GPblog and others in Spain. "The strategy has been something that last year we have been definitely struggling with, and we all were aware that it was one of our weaknesses. I think we've done some changes. And I am happy with the way it's going. Then, of course, there are races where it's going to go a bit worse," said the Ferrari driver.
