Perez wants to investigate with Red Bull: 'I am very, very concerned'
Sergio Perez started in Montreal from 12th place and eventually worked his way up to P6. The Mexican could have scored more points if he got past the Ferraris. But that did not work out and worries Max Verstappen 's teammate, he told F1TV.
Sergio Perez is in a very difficult situation at Red Bull. The Mexican thought he might be in contention for the world title after a strong start to the season, but saw his dream collapse like a house of cards after the Miami Grand Prix. Max Verstappen, who started from P14, overtook his teammate well before the end of the race, while he himself started from pole position. Since then, the driver has not been able to break even and the gap to Verstappen has increased to 69 points.
Perez is very concerned
Things also went wrong in Canada. Perez had to start from P12 and got no further than sixth place. The six-time race winner said he did not have the speed to pass the Ferrari:"I am very, very concerned. we don't understand why and that's the weird thing." The team needs investigate, Perez argues. "We have to figure [this] out and sit down and look back. We know what we are capable of and it is just important for us to understand what's going on," says the number two in the championship. He already has an idea what it could have been due to. " We had a good start of the weekend, but we made some changes with the tyres, so I don't know if there is anything in that."
