Max Verstappen gave Red Bull Racing a dominant win in the Canadian Grand Prix. At the other end of the garage, however, it was the third disappointing result in a row for Sergio Perez. What grade does GPblog give to the Formula 1 teams?

Red Bull: 9

Red Bull Racing had a perfect weekend - at one end of the garage. From qualifying, communication with Verstappen was streamlined, and that continued into the race. On Sergio Perez's side, however, things did not go as smoothly. The Mexican was stranded in Q2, forcing him to start 12th. In the race, he did not progress beyond sixth place but managed to score the extra point for the fastest lap.

Aston Martin: 9

The Canadian Grand Prix marked an extremely successful Sunday for the Aston Martin team. Not only did Fernando Alonso grab second place, but Lance Stroll also finished inside the points in front of his home crowd. The Canadian was nowhere near the pace of his teammate but drove a fine race from the 16th starting spot.

Mercedes: 8

Mercedes lost George Russell during the race due to a driver's own mistake, but the weekend proved once again that the German formation have gone down the right path with the developments of the W14. Lewis Hamilton reached the podium after he and Russell started from P3 and P4, respectively on the grid.

Ferrari: 6

Ferrari were finally right for once with their race strategy, but poor qualifying from both drivers on Saturday meant that neither Charles Leclerc nor Carlos Sainz was able to reach the podium.

Alpine: 6.5

Alpine will have left Canada with mixed feelings. Esteban Ocon had a strong weekend, qualifying sixth on a rainy Saturday. Pierre Gasly got caught up in the chaos of the final minutes in Q1, in which he got stuck behind Carlos Sainz's Ferrari. In the race, he did manage to move forward a bit, but points were not in the cards for Gasly.

McLaren: 5

McLaren saw Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri qualify seventh and eighth, respectively at the soaking-wet Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. However, the race in dry conditions was less smooth for the Woking-based team. Norris drove on the edge in the closing stages to grab an extra point but was told by his team after the race that he had received a time penalty. Both drivers finished outside the points.

Alfa Romeo: 6

Alfa Romeo took home a point thanks to Valtteri Bottas' 10th place, but it would have been zero had Norris not received a time penalty. The Finn saw Stroll pass him just before the finish line while Guanyu Zhou drove a colourless race.

Haas: 4

Qualifying saw Nico Hulkenberg play a hero's role, but that ultimately proved to be the highlight of his weekend. He lost his spot on the front row of the grid because of an offence during the red flag, and in the race, he dropped 10 spots. From Kevin Magnussen, we saw very little.

Williams: 9

Logan Sargeant had a colourless weekend, which he ended with a DNF. Alexander Albon, on the other hand, showed his best side right from qualifying. After managing to reach Q3 by being the first to take the gamble on softs, he made himself so wide from start to finish that he not only kept his spot in the points but also won two spots. It earned him six points and the honorary title of Driver of the Day.

AlphaTauri: 4

For AlphaTauri, the F1 weekend in Canada was one to quickly forget. Both Yuki Tsunoda and Nyck de Vries were stranded as early as Q1. Where Tsunoda made a mistake on Saturday, De Vries did the same on Sunday. This left the Dutchman stuck in last place, while Tsunoda had to settle for fourteenth.
