Mercedes confirms: Mick Schumacher will drive F1 car
Besides a return in a Formula One car for Sebastian Vettel at the Festival of Speed, Mick Schumacher will also be behind the wheel, Mercedes announced in a press release. He will drive the W02, which his father and seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher drove during his time at Mercedes.
The Festival of Speed is from 13 to 16 July in West Sussex in England. Here, several motorsport events will take place around historic and modern racing vehicles.
'Will be spectacular to drive in the W02'
So this year, the list of drivers who will attend includes Sebastian Vettel and Mick Schumacher. Schumacher says: "It's going to be spectacular to run in my Dad's 2011 car, the W02, even if it is only a short run. Just experiencing this generation of cars will be mega."
Previously, Schumacher Jr. drove his father's Benetton, along with several of Schumacher Sr.'s Ferraris. "This will be the first time behind the wheel of a Mercedes he drove. I am sure I will get out of it with a big smile on my face," said Mick. Besides Schumacher, Esteban Gutiérrez will also drive a Mercedes, as he will sit behind the wheel of the W12, it is reported.
