Williams through peaks and troughs | 800th GP weekend upcoming
- GPblog.com
Williams will celebrate during the British Grand Prix and the Hungarian GP that the team has participated in as many as 800 races. The team has a long history in F1 and is almost the most successful team ever. For those two races, there will be modifications to the look of the car.
The team, which has competed in motorsport's royal class since 1975, was due to run its 800th F1 race at the British GP in 2023. Due to the cancellation of the Imola GP due to flooding in Italy, that has now been moved up a race. The British Grand Prix will still be a moment of celebration, but in Hungary, Williams will only really run its 800th race.
Special Williams livery already at 799th Grand Prix
For the British GP, Williams will be celebrating with a special livery on the FW45 of Alexander Albon and Logan Sargeant. It will be off again in Hungary, but for that GP weekend the team has decided to drive with a special emblem on the car. What these will look like the team is not yet letting us know. Festivities are also planned in the fan zone at the Silverstone circuit, just like in central London, 'The London Fanzone'.
In a press statement, team boss James Vowles says: ""Reaching the milestone of our 800th Grand Prix is a remarkable achievement for Williams Racing. We are incredibly proud of our history and the legacy built over the years. Over our 46-year history, the team has achieved incredible results. With nine Constructors’ championships and seven Drivers’ titles to our name we are the second most successful Formula 1 team of all time, only behind Ferrari."
