Alex Palou is one of the sensations in IndyCar. The Spaniard was labelled one of the top five drivers in the world by fellow IndyCar driver Stefan Wilson on Twitter. Wilson would love to see him in the Red Bull alongside Max Verstappen, and Palou himself would not say no to an adventure in Formula 1.

He is not the only IndyCar driver in recent years where there is talk of a move to Formula 1. Last year, Colton Herta was close to a seat in the AlphaTauri, but in the end Helmut Marko went for Nyck de Vries, partly because Herta did not have enough points on his racing licence.

'Who am I to say no'

Palou is the next one said to be up to Formula 1. The 2021 IndyCar champion would be open for a move to Formula 1, though, he told Marca: "I've always said I'm very happy in IndyCar, but obviously if the opportunity arose... who would I be to say no?"
