Franz Tost well aware of underperforming Alpha Tauri
With not the start to the season Alpha Tauri would have hoped for going into the 10th round of the championship. Questions fall onto Franz Tost, team boss at the Italian outfit at a Friday press conference ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix.
Looking back on Canada
The first order of business for Tost was to reflect on the team's performance in Canada where they once again underperformed, something the Austrian put down to the set-up on Yuki Tsunoda's car, "Wrong tyre pressure. We made a mistake in the setup of the car because Yuki was quite competitive in FP3 when it was full wet, and then in qualifying when it dried up we made a mistake" continuing later that "Once you are behind in Canada, it's difficult to catch up." while admitting to a mistake in the strategy from the team, "The tyre degradation was higher than expected, and therefore, unfortunately, we didn't score any points. But I must say that the car is getting better"
Upgrades looking good
Continuing on the positive note about the improvement of the car Tost expanded "The car showed a good performance there and I must say that on the aerodynamic side, we made some steps forward and I am quite positive for the next races" explaining not only were upgrades brought here to Canada but there will be some more in Silverstone as well. While also choosing to counteract the negative press towards Nyck De Vries but trying to celebrate Tsunoda's pace so far "What about Yuki Tsunoda then? Some of the top three (drivers) of the season so far and several of them put Yuki in the top three. Would you agree?"
