Former F1 driver: 'Red Bull won't be dominant until the end of the season'
- Sam Godber
Last weekend, Red Bull won another 2023 Grand Prix at its home circuit. The Austrian racing stable now stands at nine wins, but no one doubts that there will be some more. Yet Jan Lammers tells the NOS Formula 1 podcast that he still does not find it boring to watch Formula 1.
Max Verstappen in particular, along with his team, is unstoppable. The Dutchman has seven wins so far this season, and he is well ahead in the drivers' championship, as even teammate Sergio Perez cannot match the two-time world champion for now.
Not more boring
Despite this, Lammers does not think the sport is getting boring: "I can imagine that people do think it is getting duller, but the connoisseur really looks at it more broadly. I think it's great that as soon as the season started, when it was clear that Red Bull had the upper hand, that there was still some kind of battle between Max and Perez. Checo fell off then, but now we see different drivers next to Max on the podium every week. Max is the constant driver, but how the others try to close the gap I find fascinating. I also don't think Red Bull's dominance lasts until the end of the season."
