Hamilton welcomes protesters at Silverstone: 'Need to become more sustainable'
- Sam Godber
Lewis Hamilton welcomes protesters during the British Grand Prix, he says. Prior to the Silverstone Grand Prix, protests have been announced by climate activists who want to demonstrate during the weekend in England. Earlier, Wolff and Domenicali responded to possible demonstrations, but now Hamilton too.
"I welcome protesters or activists," he said when asked by Sky Sports about his opinion on possible political actions at Silverstone. He does want to add a little nuance in that. "I mean, they are always pushing for positive change, but we never want people to stand on the track and put themselves in danger."
Hamilton agrees with Wolff and Domenicali
"We have to become more sustainable. We need to become more inclusive. There are all things we need to do more, but it's happening so fast. The industry is developing so fast that sometimes some of those things slip by," Hamilton told them. The Briton has long been pushing for a more inclusive sport and more diversity on the race track.
According to Hamilton, absolutely no people should be allowed on the track. This was the case in 2022. Activists from Just Stop Oil came onto the track, creating a dangerous situation.
