Horner laughs at Pitt's age: 'All the ladies loved it'
Formula 1 was introduced to a new Formula 1 team at Silverstone last weekend. The APXGP was able to drive its first metres on the track with Sonny Hayes and Joshua Pierce. How both men did will only become clear in a while. After all, F1 did not disclose anything at all about the lap times driven. Hayes and Pierce are not real drivers either, they are the characters in a feature film produced by Lewis Hamilton, whose release date is still unknown.
Sonny Hayes is played by Brad Pitt, who was allowed to race a converted F2 car across Silverstone between F1 sessions. Pitt plays a older racing driver who is asked to mentor a great talent as he enters Formula 1. Older is in the broadest sense of the word here, by the way. After all, Pitt is already 59 years old.
'Alonso looks young next to Pitt'
Christian Horner, Red Bull Racing's team boss, had obviously noticed Pitt and his film crew walking around the paddock. "Do you know what, I've seen absolutely none of it," Horner told GPblog and others. "Brad was on the grid! He's made Fernando Alonso look young, and I'm sure all the ladies loved it."
Pitt was also present during the driver briefing. He was also standing next to Max Verstappen at the moment when the British national anthem was played before the start of the Grand Prix. Footage for the Hollywood film will be shot in more race weekends in the near future.
