Leclerc: 'I'm the first to want to be in a title fight'
The season has not started too well for the Ferrari driver. Mistakes have been made, and the car even ended up in the wall. Despite this, Charles Leclerc has expressed his desire to fight for the world title next year, but he still has to do something to do so.
The Monegasque driver believes he must remain critical and continue to consult with the team to keep improving. In this way, he hopes to get closer to the big teams.
Leclerc has often said he is critical of himself when he makes mistakes. He hopes the team adopts the same approach. That way, everyone, including himself, can learn from these and only improve. He believes these improvements can ensure the team moves forward.
Fighting for the world title
Although a world title is not in the cards for the Monegasque driver currently, he expects to get it next season. “I am the first one who wants to be in a title fight,” he tells The Guardian. His hope is to bring Ferrari back to the top, which has not happened for five years.
It may seem that after five years, it is frustrating not being a world champion, but Leclerc says that motivates him: "I am even more motivated to change that, to bring Ferrari back to where it deserves to be, which is consistently on top. Once we get there I am sure it will be a very, very special moment.”
