Not only on the track has Aston Martin emerged as a serious contender for podium finishes, owner Lawrence Stroll's team is also making huge strides off the track. A new factory near the Silverstone circuit has been completed, and a new wind tunnel will be commissioned later this season. It is certainly not going to stop there.

Mike Krack, Aston Martin's team manager, is already looking with admiration at what has already been achieved, but also indicates that this is just the beginning. "I think it is a clear statement of intent from Lawrence to build this campus, to put this all into life," says the Luxembourger.

Aston Martin wants more than new wind tunnel

"Where we are now, what we have achieved this year, had nothing to do with that, because we moved in a couple of weeks ago. So now it’s about taking the next step, getting everybody settled in the new facility, taking into service the wind tunnel, as you have said, when it is ready, and then move on and make the next step. So I hope there will be more to come," said Krack, who did not specify what else was in the pipeline.

Either way, the factory at Silverstone is state-of-the-art. Krack sees the necessary advantages: "For me, it is clearly the improvement in communication that you have between all team members. You have a very large design office, you have very large areas where people can talk, people can meet, and I think this is key. Before you had people that maybe were working with you, but for ten years you didn't see them, because they were just in a completely different building in a different location. So it has been a big boost for every one of us to be together with all the team members, to be together with all the colleagues, and I'm quite sure that we will benefit from that."
