The Hungarian Grand Prix at the Hungaroring has been on the Formula 1 calendar since 1986. The aim is to keep it that way for a while longer: a contract extension through 2032 is targeted. The circuit's current contract with F1 expires at the end of 2027.

Hungary GP aims for 2032

Negotiations are currently under way on the future of the Hungarian Grand Prix. The aim is to bring out a contract extension next weekend, the weekend the Hungarian GP takes place. State Secretary for Sport Adam Schmidt said this in a press conference at the circuit, Hungary Today reported.

"We are confident that we will be able to report on the contract extension at the Hungarian Grand Prix this weekend. The target date for this is 2032, with an option for a further five years, but the primary condition for this is that the previously announced improvements are implemented on time," Schimdt said.

Hungaroring must renovate

Liberty Media requires the circuit to carry out a number of renovations before the 2026, possibly affecting other editions of the Hungarian Grand Prix. "For the 2026 race, the main building and the main grandstand at the finish line will need to be renovated, but it will be difficult to build in a way that will allow the 2024 and 2025 races to take place without problems."
