Manager De Vries: 'An official statement from Nyck later this week'
- Cas van de Kleut
On Tuesday 11 July, it was announced that Nyck de Vries has lost his seat in Formula 1 with immediate effect. Much has been said about the news, but an official response from De Vries' camp has not yet been forthcoming. Meanwhile, the Dutchman's manager has announced that an official statement will come from the driver later this week.
De Vries had a difficult season at AlphaTauri. The Sneek-based driver did not finish once in the points, where teammate Yuki Tsunoda managed to do so in Austalia. In addition, the Dutchman's better performances were overshadowed by crashes. During a tyre test at the Silverstone circuit, Daniel Ricciardo performed so well that Helmut Marko decided to let the Australian drive the rest of the season in the AlphaTauri, at the expense of De Vries.
'A reaction later this week'
After that, things remained quiet around the 28-year-old driver for a very long time, but now his manager Gulliaume Le Goff has revealed to F1 insider when De Vries will respond: "There will be an official statement from Nyck later this week, but until then we have a few things to sort out."
