Does Verstappen get bored of driving alone in the lead? ‘Would be better’
Max Verstappen is currently much faster than the rest of the field. The Dutchman is supreme in his RB19. Isn't driving alone in the lead starting to get boring? In front of GPblog, Verstappen talked about what he likes best.
Last weekend, the two-time world champion finished the Grand Prix as the winner with a gap of no less than 33 seconds to number two, Lando Norris. It was not the first time the Dutchman drove a somewhat solitary race. It is almost a regular occurrence this season. The Red Bull driver starts from pole position and does not see his challengers again until the end of the race.
Verstappen does not get bored
But bored, no it does not bore him yet. "For the sport it would be better yes [to have challengers], but for myself I prefer to see the gap as big as possible," he says. "I like the solo races." Verstappen almost has another profession. The F1 driver no longer has to really race, fight on the track, it seems. He drives his laps, faster than everyone else, and then picks up the trophy. "I don't mind to race, but I've done a lot of racing already in my life, so you don't need to necessarily do that every single race."
