How much do Sky Sports F1 pay for the broadcast rights in the UK?
Sky Sports F1 is the exclusive home for Formula 1 in the United Kingdom and Ireland. Sky's hosting fees are reported to be in access of £200 million per season which makes up a big chunk of F1's total broadcast money.
Expensive rights
Sky Sports have hosted Formula 1 exclusively in the United Kingdom since 2012 and will continue to do so until 2029 at least. Channel 4 also host the British Grand Prix and highlights of every other event on the calendar.
The exclusive nature of this deal means F1 fans in the United Kingdom cannot access F1 TV Pro, though recently, Sky Sports introduced a range of new features, including allowing fans to pick their favourite drivers' onboard camera. Ultra HD coverage is available for Sky Q and Sky Glass customers.
The total of F1's current deal £1.18 billion (2019-2024). It is unclear how much that increased by for the contract extension, but it is expected to be more than £200 million per season.
