Perez dismisses rumours as 'nonsense': 'Max and I have the same car'
According to Red Bull driver Sergio Perez, it is pertinent nonsense that he would have a less fast car than teammate Max Verstappen. Speaking to MundoDeportivo in Hungary, he says both cars are identical. Apparently, his remarks did not stop the rumours.
After a strong season start with two wins, the Mexican found himself in a dip in form. Halfway through the season, the gap between number one Verstappen and number two Perez is a whopping 125 points. It was suggested from Mexico that Verstappen's RB19 should be faster, better, than the six-time race winner's equipment.
Red Bulls are equal according to Perez
Perez refutes these rumours. "That is nonsense. The two cars are identical to each other. It is impossible. Red Bull is fighting for the championship. It is in their own interest to give me the best possible car so that I can get score as many points as possible."
Verstappen's teammate expressed his ambition to become world champion at the start of the season. Currently, the man with start number 11 has shifted his focus to securing second place in the drivers' championship.
