Krack impressed with Alonso: 'At his age superhuman'
- Sam Godber
Aston Martin team boss Mike Krack is admiring the performance of his driver Fernando Alonso. The now 42-year-old Spaniard is third in the championship standings after a strong first half of the season. His team boss is full of praise for him in an interview with Racefans, stressing he is particularly impressed by Alonso's reaction speed.
Krack: 'I've never seen anything like it'
Fernando Alonso managed six podium finishes in the first half of the season. His strong performances ensure that he holds third place in the drivers' standings, even though the lead over Lewis Hamilton is still only one point. Team boss Mike Krack also sees Alonso's impressive season half. "What I have seen, I have never seen before," Krack begins. "With any kind of driver – whatever age, whatever kind of category – I’ve never seen anything like that before. I’m still deeply impressed with the first races we have done now."
When asked if Alonso at 42 might be superhuman, Krack agreed:"That’s probably a good wording." The Luxembourger is particularly struck by the reaction speed Alonso still has. "The reaction times – we always look at it – they are fantastic. It’s just incredible. So it is probably “superhuman” ".
Aston Martin team boss also positive about Stroll
The results of Alonso's teammate Lance Stroll are lagging a bit this season. Nevertheless, Krack is also positive about the young Canadian. He stresses that, partly due to his injury, Stroll had a difficult start to the season. In addition, Krack thinks it is important to stress that Stroll is currently alongside one of the best drivers:"I think you need not to forget you have one of the greatest drivers of all time as your team-mate – this is not easy. The way he handles it and the way he comes with it, I think is really super nice."
