Ricciardo doesn't look far ahead: 'It just feels like 10 years ago'
Daniel Ricciardo is in his third race weekend in the premier class of motorsport. The good-humoured Australian has been driving the AlphaTauri since the departure of Dutch Nyck de Vries. De Vries, unfortunately for him, cannot make it to the Zandvoort Grand Prix. At Zandvoort, Ricciardo talks about his ambitions within racing.
First, Ricciardo says a button has flipped for him. "I want to be racing for a few more years now. I think six months ago, that was not my answer. I didn't know what my answer was," Ricciardo says.
Ricciardo feels as fresh as ever
"But coming back in it, it feels like me 10 years ago. I feel like I do have that kind of that young energy again and that motivation and ultimately just the happiness and that love to to be back on the grid and to be racing," the 34-year-old driver from Perth told reporters.
Ricciardo, like De Vries, has yet to score a point this season, but that could change this weekend. Teammate Yuki Tsunoda did score points already this season, three in fact. Next Sunday, the Dutch Grand Prix will be held in Zandvoort.
