Tost praises Ricciardo's performance: 'We shouldn't forget that'
Daniel Ricciardo will start his third Formula 1 weekend at AlphaTauri at Zandvoort. His experience will be of great value for the development of the car, according to team boss Franz Tost.
Tost happy with Ricciardo's experience
So far, Tost is more than happy with the performance of Ricciardo, who took over Nyck de Vries' seat at AlphaTauri ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix. "I think he has done very well because we have to remember that he has not been in the car for a long time. When he came back, he immediately felt familiar with the team because he already knew many people from the past," said the 67-year-old Austrian.
He continued: "Also, in terms of the car, he gets a better feeling now. Today, after the first free practice at Zandvoort, he already gave us very good feedback, and I think this will also help us for the next races. His feedback is very positive, and he feels good in the car. Of course, there are some shortcomings because otherwise, he would be driving up front."
With currently last place in the constructors' championship, AlphaTauri is not where it wants to be, but Tost thinks Ricciardo can play an important role in improving the car. "With the feedback we get from Daniel, I think we can make further steps in development. He is very experienced, and he has already given us a lot of important information about the behaviour of the car. The engineers are now working on that," Tost said.
