Marko confirms Ricciardo is off to hospital: 'We are waiting to see'
- Toby McLuskie
The second free practice did not go off without a hitch for Daniel Ricciardo. After only ten minutes, Oscar Piastri crashed, but the AlphaTauri driver was startled and crashed himself. Now Helmut Marko confirms to Viaplay that Ricciardo has gone to the hospital for examinations.
The crash caused a red flag, and initially, both drivers seemed to be able to get out of the car without injury. Over the radio, Ricciardo reported shortly after his crash that his hand was in pain, and at the time the eight-time race winner was still full of adrenaline. He was then taken to the medical centre, and then driven to hospital. "We don't know yet, it's very painful, his hand and wrist obviously got some damage," Marko began, before adding, "but we have to wait for an exact diagnostic."

Possible replacement Ricciardo
Liam Lawson is present at the circuit, so at first glance, he would be the easiest option to replace Ricciardo. Marko cannot say anything about it at the moment: "It's a new situation, first we wait until we know exactly if Ricciardo can drive or not, and then we will start the discussion about what we're going to do."
