AlphaTauri confirms: Lawson also replaces Ricciardo in Italy
- Sam Godber
It is now officially confirmed: Liam Lawson is Daniel Ricciardo' s replacement at AlphaTauri for the time being. The team informs that the driver who made his Formula 1 debut at Zandvoort will replace the Australian until he is fit again.
Lawson drove his first race yesterday at Zandvoort after Daniel Ricciardo broke his metacarpal in the second free practice. The Australian has since undergone surgery, but it is still unknown when he will be fit enough to return in the AlphaTauri.

AlphaTauri says in an X-post: "We are delighted that Daniel's surgery went well and that he is now on the road to recovery. We hope to see him at the track again very soon, but until he is fully fit, we can confirm that Liam, who did a good job in difficult circumstances in Zandvoort, will continue to drive alongside Yuki, starting from our home race this weekend in Monza."
