Lewis Hamilton has extended his contract with Mercedes for two years, meaning the Formula 1 driver will also be behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car in 2024 and 2025. But what actually are the 38-year-old Mercedes man's goals within the best class of motorsport? He explains himself.
"We are trying to win more world championships," Hamilton told reporters ahead of the Italian Grand Prix at Monza. "I think the unfinished business is getting us back to the top, it's getting back and fighting for world championships. We've been the most successful team in history and had the most successful run in the past 10 years."
Hamilton on Mercedes future
"The heads of all the departments coming together, talking and just really engaging better than ever before about where we are, the mistakes we've made, why we've made those decisions and why we won't make them again and where we're going," the Mercedes driver revealed in northern Italy.
"But it's been a challenge these past years, so I think it's just getting us back to where we belong and where we operate and firing on all those cylinders which you're seeing at Red Bull," the Englishman from Stevenage continued. " Having that confidence in each other that we are the best at what we do and when we come together and when we, given time, we will get to where we need to be," concludes the seven-time world champion.
