Christian Horner can so far look back on the 2023 season with satisfaction. The Red Bull team boss saw all 14 races won by his drivers Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez. Red Bull and its drivers are therefore firmly in the lead in both championships. In an interview with Italy's Corriere della Sera, Horner talks about what dominance feels like.

Red Bull RB19 the car to beat in 2023

Until Singapore, all races and sprint races have been won by a Red Bull driver. Max Verstappen has already scored 12 wins and two sprint races this season, while Sergio Perez took two wins on Sunday and also managed to win a sprint race. The Red Bull RB19 is the car to beat this season and Horner knows it. However, the team boss never expected at the start of this season that the car would be so strong.

Red Bull took over the record of most wins in a row as a team from McLaren in Hungary. That record had been in the books since 1988. "We never expected such dominance," Horner began. "We actually already knew we had a good car and that was confirmed during the tests in Bahrain. But, none of us [Red Bull] could have even dreamed of being unbeaten for so long."

Horner: 'Winning is hard, repeating that is even harder'

However, the Red Bull team boss does not think that achieving victories is an easy task, although to the outside world that sometimes seems to be the case. Horner comments on that: "Winning is hard, repeating that is even harder. You always have to be at the top: the car, strategy, reliability, starts. Staying out of trouble and also having a bit of luck. Every weekend is a constant challenge. There has also been a lot of rain this season, which is anything but easy."
