F1 Power Rankings | Verstappen out of top ten, Lawson moves to the front
- GPblog.com
The latest F1 Power Rankings are in, the grades given to F1 drivers by Formula1.com. After the Singapore Grand Prix, Carlos Sainz can only get a ten. For Max Verstappen, on the other hand, less good news. The Dutchman is not in the top ten.
Sainz gets a ten and receives praise for his important fast lap on Saturday and his clever approach during the race. With his DRS plan to use Norris as a buffer against the advancing Mercedes, Sainz showed he has a high racing IQ. At number two is Lando Norris with a 9.4. The McLaren driver also managed to stay ahead of both Mercedes and took P2.
Verstappen goes off, Lawson shoots up
Two very noticeable items in the top ten list of the F1 Power Rankings is the absence of Max Verstappen and the rise of Liam Lawson. Verstappen had a poor weekend in Singapore and Formula1.com charges the driver with that. Number ten on the list is shared by Alexander Albon and Charles Leclerc, who both scored a seven. Exactly what grade Verstappen got is not mentioned, but it is therefore no higher than a seven.
Lawson scored an 8.8 with his P9 finish, shooting up to an average of 7.9. He is in the top ten of average Power Ranking on a shared P3 with Hamilton. Verstappen remains on P1 with an average 9.1. Still more than a point ahead of number two Fernando Alonso who scored an 8.0 average.
