F1 future Lawson according to Marko: 'We need to fill four cars'

Liam Lawson has replaced Daniel Ricciardo since the Dutch Grand Prix. The New Zealander impressed during his first races in the king class of motorsport. Red Bull's external advisor Helmut Marko also has nothing but good words for the AlphaTauri driver.
Liam Lawson did everything right on his sensational debut," the Red Bull advisor told Motorsport-Magazin. "He will be a reserve for Red Bull Racing and AlphaTauri. He will work a lot in the simulator and drive an older F1 car for a while. Then he will come into F1 more than well and prepared for 2025," concludes the 80-year-old man from Graz.
Marko on Lawson's future in Formula 1
"You have to be prepared," Marko explains. "We don't know if Perez wants to continue or not. We have to fill four cars and you also need a strong reserve today. You have to be prepared," concludes the Austrian. At the end of 2024, three of the four Red Bull seats will remain vacant.
Lawson has already scored more points in three races this Formula 1 season than Nyck de Vries did all season. Ricciardo skidded off the track at Zandvoort, resulting in an injury for the Australian.
