With rumours that Lance Stroll's time at Aston Martin is over, so are the sounds that Yuki Tsunoda is going to be the Canadian's successor. Tsunoda responds to the noises and hopes he is not misunderstood by Red Bull Racing. After all, his goal still seems to be a seat at Red Bull.

That Aston Martin will partner with engine supplier Honda in 2026 has reinforced expectations that Tsunoda will go after the Japanese manufacturer. Prior to the Qatar GP, the Japanese driver denied the rumours and instead hoped Red Bull would see his progress and consider him for a seat alongside Max Verstappen.

Tsunoda clarifies to Red Bull

Speaking to GPblog.com and other media, the AlphaTauri driver said, "The main thing is that I don't want Red Bull to misunderstand something that, for example, I'm just focusing now on Aston Martin or anything. Now I'm in the AlphaTauri, and I've been with Red Bull since I was 18. It's just now focusing on performing for Red Bull, not for Aston Martin or something like that, but hopefully, they didn’t misunderstand those things, and hopefully they really consider my future seriously."

Tsunoda explains why he is worried about misunderstanding at Red Bull and why he advocates his commitment to Red Bull: "I saw in some of the social media that Red Bull thinks I'm going to Aston Martin already, that's why they don't want to put me in a Red Bull or whatever. I don't know if that's true or not because it's social media, but if that's true, that's not the case. Anyway, I have to show my performance to convince them to make sure that I have real material to be in Red Bull."
