Qualifying for the Aston Martin team, despite Fernando Alonso's fourth place, was still mainly dominated by Lance Stroll. The Canadian set a time that was ultimately only good for a P17, causing him to express his frustration in the Aston Martin pit box. On camera, he even appeared to push his own physiotherapist over in frustration. Team boss Mike Krack reacts.

"Unfortunately, Lance did not get beyond Q1. He had to delete a couple of laps because of the limits on the track, so he didn't make it further," the 51-year-old Luxembourger commented. About Stroll's incident afterwards, the team boss did not reveal much. "I haven't seen anything yet. Before I comment on it, I want to get a picture of the situation myself," he told BILD.

Alonso the bright spot

Yet Friday was not entirely in a minor mood for Aston Martin in Qatar. Spaniard Alonso put his car on P4 during qualifying, and is likely to be allowed to start Sunday's Grand Prix from the second row of the grid. Krack sees good qualifying from the Spanish driver.

"A couple of strong laps from Fernando tonight, which means we are now fourth on the grid for Sunday's race. Sprint days on Friday are always a challenge, especially on a dusty track with a lack of reference data. The track developed and improved a lot," team boss Krack told reporters after qualifying.
