F1 World Championship standings after 2023 Qatar Grand Prix

F1 World Championship standings after Qatar | Perez lucky Hamilton crashed

8 October 2023 at 20:05

Max Verstappen has already secured the 2023 Formula 1 World Championship, but there are still some interesting battles ongoing. Sergio Perez is trying to keep hold of P2 in the Drivers Championship and would've lost ground had Lewis Hamilton avoided his crash at turn one.

Perez holds P2 lead

Perez currently sits second on 224 points. He picked up just one point in the Qatar Grand Prix, which was actually one more than Hamilton. The British driver crashed into his teammate at turn one and ended his race. The Brit started in P3. Even if he only managed to finish in 5th, Hamilton could've closed the gap to 20 points and really applied pressure to the Red Bull driver. But that's sport.

Fernando Alonso scored eight points in the race and kept himself in the mix. Once again, the McLaren drivers work their way up the standings with another double podium.
