Mercedes present new floor in America and the long-awaited Haas B-spec
Ahead of the United States Grand Prix, the Formula 1 teams communicated what updates have been included for the race in Austin. As expected, Haas has a completely new package, and there are also new parts at Mercedes and Aston Martin, among others.
With a sprint race weekend ahead, most teams opt to leave the updates at home. For many teams, the focus will also be on 2024 already. For instance, Red Bull Racing, Ferrari, Alpine, McLaren and Williams will arrive in Texas without a single update.
What Mercedes wants to learn from Red Bull Racing
Mercedes have brought a new floor for the US GP. As revealed in GPblog's technical analysis, Mercedes' main aim with this new floor is to learn exactly what Red Bull Racing are doing with the RB19. This is mainly for the car in 2024. Aston Martin hope for the same, where a modified floor, diffuser, beam wing and modified bodywork are on the FIA's list.
Haas are bringing the most upgrades. The American team have long circled their home race on the calendar, as this is where a B-spec of the car will be introduced. That appears to be the case. Haas have a new front brake duct, floor, sidepod entry and new bodywork. There are also special cooling slots for this GP.
Alfa Romeo also joins the list of teams that have brought a new floor, and a long list of updates has also been delivered by AlphaTauri. Red Bull's sister team reports three floor modifications, new bodywork and a new rear axle.
