Hint at return? Webshop sells Ricciardo's Red Bull caps
- Cas van de Kleut
Daniel Ricciardo is driving his second race this weekend since his injury. The Australian is driving for AlphaTauri, Red Bull Racing's sister team, but there is something striking going on. Namely, the web shop New Era Cap, a big company in the cap industry, is selling Ricciardo caps by Red Bull.
It was a disappointment for Ricciardo that he had to sit out the 2023 season in the first place. The Australian returned to his old love, Red Bull, to work as a reserve driver. In July, he was told he could replace Nyck de Vries for the rest of the season, but at Zandvoort, the eight-time race winner broke his metacarpal. In Austin, he returned to the grid.
Hint at Red Bull return
Nevertheless, New Era Cap still has Ricciardo's Red Bull caps on its site. Currently, the cap is sold out. It is quite remarkable that these caps are still on the site, given that the 34-year-old driver drives at AlphaTauri, and not every team has a cap for its reserve driver [which is what Red Bull now has for Ricciardo]. Recently, there have been many rumours surrounding the second seat at Red Bull, due to Sergio Perez's poorer performance. Whether it has to do with that, we will soon find out.
