F1 Drivers' Standings | Verstappen continues to score, Hamilton near Perez
It should have been Sergio Perez's weekend, it became Max Verstappen's and (to a slightly lesser extent) Lewis Hamilton's race. While Verstappen further increased his already immense margin in the already decided championship, teammate Perez lost expensive points. The Mexican saw Lewis Hamilton closing in on him in the battle for second place.
For Hamilton, grabbing second place is certainly no longer an impossible task. Behind him, Fernando Alonso's fourth place is also no longer a certainty. The Spaniard failed to score, while compatriot Carlos Sainz did. Both drivers are now equal in the standings. Lando Norris also picked up important points.
Out of the drivers who started Sunday's Mexican Grand Prix, Daniel Ricciardo was the only one who was scoreless. That changed in Mexico City. Six points were picked up by the Australian.
