Norris fia stewards Brazil GP sprint races verstappen

Lando Norris has been rather negative about the choices of the FIA and Formula 1. When the drivers were asked their opinions on sprint racing during the press conference, Norris briefly explained how much drivers really have a say on the matter.

Max Verstappen is not a fan of the sprint race format and that is well known to everyone. So when asked in the press conference what they would like to see different next year, Verstappen is very clear. "Just a normal race weekend, please. Thank you," said the Dutchman.

"I don't know. It doesn't matter what we say. Our choices rarely have much effect on anything, especially with this. Everything seems dictated by team bosses and what they want to do and what they choose to do," the Brit is particularly open. Asked about the rules put in place by the FIA this race weekend, Norris continues the same tone.

Norris stresses the lack of influence

"I don't mind, to be honest. Again, we have no say on these rules. They just get implemented no matter if we think it's good or bad for the sport. It’s the same with the minimum lap time stuff. I got a reprimand this morning for two cars ahead of me coming out the pit lane, or one crossing over the safety car line and one coming out the pit lane at the same time. I can't overtake, otherwise, I'm going to be racing on a qualifying lap, which is stupid," he added.

"Not that the stewards made the wrong decision, it's just there's a rule that shouldn't be in, in my opinion, because I did absolutely nothing wrong. I didn't block anyone. I didn't get in anyone's way. I've just not overtaken and caused a race in qualifying and I get a reprimand for that."

Later in the press conference, Norris returns to his words to nuance them somewhat. He argues that while stewards do listen to the drivers, the drivers have no say in the decisions that are made. They are listened to, according to Norris, but that does not mean anything will change immediately.
