Official starting grid F1 Brazilian Grand Prix
5 November 2023 at 15:11

The FIA has announced the starting grid for the 2023 Brazilian Grand Prix. Max Verstappen starts from pole position after being the fastest man in qualifying. See who will line up alongside the Dutchman here.

Verstappen was the fastest man in F1 qualifying on Friday. Verstappen went out early in Q3, and it paid off. Charles Leclerc was also out early, allowing the Monegasque to start from P2. Lance Stroll and Fernando Alonso occupied the second row of the grid after Aston Martin was also on top on Friday.

Things did not go as well for George Russell, Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly. They all received a two-place grid penalty after hindering other drivers in qualifying. As a result, Russell starts from P8, while Alpine will only be seen in P14 and P15.

Verstappen is the big favourite for the Sao Paulo GP. The Dutchman was convincingly the best in the sprint race on Saturday and only had something to worry about from Lando Norris. However, due to a poorer qualifying, the Brit will start from P6 on Sunday. So if nothing unusual happens, it seems likely that Verstappen will run away with victory.
