Since Valtteri Bottas no longer drives a Mercedes, the Finn has not been in view of F1 viewers very often. Perhaps that is why only a few have noticed that the current Alfa Romeo driver has lost something: his moustache! Bottas said.

Laughing, he said, "That is correct. It's November, so I’ve got to start from zero. Actually I do it for charity, for Movember, I had a bit of a scare this morning when I looked in the mirror, but only a few days and we're good," he said last week. So by shaving off his moustache, Bottas hopes to raise money for charity. On his Instagram page, the Finn posted a link to the page, where money can be donated.

Alfa Romeo desperately needs the points

Meanwhile, he has sporting worries. Afla Romeo - which will continue as Sauber after this season and become Audi in '26 - has now dropped to ninth in the constructors' championship. Whereas Bottas at Mercedes was used to taking home at least 18 points (which the number two gets, ed.) at a Grand Prix, he only managed to score 10 in the entire 2023 season itself.

For Alfa Romeo, the key in the year's concluding Grands Prix will be to avoid dropping to tenth and last place in particular. "Everyone just wants points," Bottas said. "Everyone has the right mentality. We know that. We didn't succeed in the last event or in the last couple of events, but it's important to get together, you know, to make sure that we all work as a team towards the same goal."
