- GPblog.com
After the Las Vegas Grand Prix, Sergio Perez secured spot two in the drivers' championship. With this, Red Bull Racing secured first and second place in this championship for the first time in their F1 history. In this article, we look back at the previous drivers' championships, without 1-2.
The Milton Keynes-based team has been competing in Formula 1 for quite a few years, since 2005. In all those years, they have won seven drivers' championships and six constructors' titles. Yet this year is the first time they have won both first and second place in the drivers' championship.
2010
In 2010, Sebastian Vettel won his first world title. In this year, Mark Webber was his teammate but managed only third place in the championship. Fernando Alonso of Ferrari then came second. There were only 10 points difference between the two then.
2011
In 2011, Vettel won his second title with Red Bull Racing. Also this year, Mark Webber was his teammate and again finished third. Jenson Button in the Mclaren came second. This time there was a slightly bigger difference of 12 points.
2012
Again this year the German, Vettel, won the drivers' title with Red Bull, and once again Mark Webber was his teammate. Webber achieved only sixth place in the championship.
2013
In 2013, Vettel won his last world title with Red Bull's team. As in 2010, Webber achieved third place and Alonso second. The difference here is 43 points.
2021
Then a jump forward in time, to Red Bull's next world title, with Max Verstappen. His teammate was Sergio Perez, who only achieved fourth place.
2022
This year, Max Verstappen won his second world title with Red Bull Racing. Perez finished third in the championship this year. The difference here was very small with second place just two points against Charles Leclerc.
