Horner on AlphaTauri name change: 'It's up to them'
- GPblog.com
Following the announcement of the teams' entry list by the FIA, there has been some confusion over AlphaTauri's name. Currently, the team is registered as 'Scuderia AlphaTauri RB', but this is not yet the final name. Speaking to GPBlog, Christian Horner was asked about the Italian team's new name.
Every year (usually) at least one team changes their name. This is all to do with sponsors coming and going, of course. The biggest name change, which is now known, is that of Stake F1 team Kick Sauber, formerly Alfa Romeo. Although this name is not quite final either. The order may still change.
Final name change
AlphaTauri also faces a change. With a new team boss and new sponsors, they are waiting for the team to announce the new name. Red Bull Racing team boss Christian Horner confirmed that a name change is coming, but did not release anything about what the name will be.
"Well, look, it will be for AlphaTauri to announce whatever name change they choose to have. There's a lot of speculation about naming and so on. And of course, you've got company names, you've got entrant names, which take deference to partners as well. So I'm sure when the timing is right, they'll announce what their rebrand is going to be for next year."
