Aston Martin team boss clear for '24: 'Only recipe that works in F1!'
- Toby McLuskie
At the start of the 2023 Formula 1 season, Aston Martin was a formidable rival to Red Bull Racing. Fernando Alonso made things difficult for Max Verstappen on several occasions but failed to win in 2023. As the season progressed, the constructor's performance was increasingly disappointing. Still, team boss Mike Krack is very confident of a good 2024.

"We are up against formidable competitors and the big question mark in winter is always what work other teams have done," the 51-year-old Luxembourger opens on the Aston Martin website. "Whatever happens, it always results in the same vicious circle: if the cars roll out and we haven't done enough, then we have to work hard to improve. If we did do enough, then we have to work hard to get even better. That is the only recipe that works in Formula 1," Krack explained.
In the first six races of the Formula One season, an Aston Martin driver was on the podium five times in Alonso. In the remainder of the season, Alonso was only on the podium twice. Team boss Krack explains that there is work to be done, but also light at the end of the tunnel.

"We are not going into 2024 with a hangover from 2023. Quite the contrary, in fact," Krack reveals. "This season, and especially the races at the end of the season, have been very positive for us, with some valuable learning experiences that we can take to the '24 car. We are not struggling with the problems of 2023. We are not struggling with doubts," concluded the Aston Martin team boss.
