Newey praises this specific attribute of Verstappen: 'All greats have that"
Max Verstappen now has three world titles to his name at Red Bull Racing, and hopes to add a fourth in 2024. Last season, the best driver on the F1 grid drove the impressive RB19, which was designed by Red Bull technical man Adrian Newey, and his staff members. He explained why Verstappen is such a fine driver to work with.
"Like all the truly great drivers, you have the impression that he [Max Verstappen] can drive the car almost subconsciously," the 65-year-old engineer explained to Motorsport.com. "And that then leaves him with plenty of processing power to think about what the car is doing," continued Newey, who recently revealed the weakness of the championship car (RB19).
Newey happy with that Verstappen attribute
"So, that kind of ability to drive the car extremely quickly, but still have constant reserve is something which Max very clearly has and I would say all the true greats that I’ve worked with have also been the same," concluded the Brit, who explained that Verstappen was an easy driver to work with.
In early 2024, the RB20 will be presented for the new Formula 1 season. Ben Waterhouse said that this car is already six months old and that the Austrian racing team are already working on the 2025 car. The first Grand Prix of the F1 season will be held on 2 March, in Bahrain. Then it will become clearer where the teams stand with their cars.
