Michael Schumacher's inner circle: These people are allowed to visit him
- Ludo van Denderen
Rumours abound, but hardly anyone really knows about Michael Schumacher's health situation. Since the seven-time Formula 1 world champion had a terrible skiing accident in 2013, his family have been anxiously keeping the German out of publicity. Only a small group of people get permission from Corinna Schumacher to visit her husband.
That group recently grew a little larger. Son Mick's Danish girlfriend was also told just before Christmas that she may visit Michael. Laila Hasanovic is a Danish model and finalist at Miss Universe Denmark in 2019. Schumacher's daughter Gina and her partner can also see Michael. This week, it was announced that Gina and Iain Bethke will marry next summer.
These people may visit Schumacher
Outside the Schumacher family, Luca Badoer is a regular visitor to Michael. The Italian was a test driver at Ferrari during the time the German raced for the Scuderia. They have always maintained a close relationship. So did Sabine Kehm, the family's manager. Felipe Massa, Schumacher's former teammate at Ferrari, also has access to Schumacher on sparse occasions. Moreover, Jean Todt, former Ferrari team boss and former FIA president, is known to visit Schumacher at his villa in Majorca.
People with whom Schumacher had a good relationship in the past but who later spoke publicly about his medical condition have been denied access. Among them are Willi Weber, Schumacher's former manager, Eddie Jordan (the team boss who put Schumacher in for debut in Formula 1) and Rubens Barrichello (former teammate).
Mick and Laila a long-term couple?
Hasanovic will no doubt have been clearly told by the Schumacher family that leaking to the press is a no-go. In that case, she will no doubt be immediately cut off from Michael Schumacher again. In any case, the fact that she is currently allowed to visit the father of her beloved Mick is a sign that things are close between the two lovebirds.
