James Vowles calls Lewis Hamilton more talented than Michael Schumacher
Lewis Hamilton, arguably the best Formula 1 driver on this earth, always had a great mentality, according to James Vowles. The former Mercedes man called Hamilton more talented than Michael Schumacher. Vowles is now team boss of Williams but has already had quite a career at Mercedes.
"Lewis [Hamilton], when he joined us, was and still is today, within my Mercedes career, the most naturally talented driver that I had worked with, including Michael [Schumacher]," Vowles explained in the High Performance podcast. "Just so much natural talent. The journey we took him on was, we'll win championships together. His mentality at the time when he joined was a brilliant one. I can see why he's successful, but it's, 'I'm going to win every race at all costs'. 'Doesn't matter what the cost is, I'm going to win that race, done'."
Vowles on Hamilton
Vowles says Hamilton has lowered the standard a bit. "If you speak to him today, he accepts that the second places and third places are how you win the championship," Vowles told of Hamilton. "Building and working with a team on the days where you can't win the race will give you far more reward than pushing everyone away in order to win that single race out of it."
