Lewis Hamilton makes switch to Ferrari!
What was thought to be an absolute impossibility earlier this week is now true: Lewis Hamilton is switching from Mercedes to Ferrari. The Briton will drive for the Scuderia from the 2025 season. This has just been made clear to the staff at Mercedes by the management, Sky Sports report.
At Ferrari, Hamilton (39) will become Charles Leclerc's teammate. Carlos Sainz will thus leave the Italian team at the end of next season. It is also unknown who will succeed Hamilton at Mercedes. For a long time, it was assumed that Hamilton had a two-year commitment with the Germans, but it appears that the veteran driver could escape from his contract.
Hamilton seemed to be tied to Mercedes forever
So 2025 will see a - surprisingly - premature end to a very successful marriage between Hamilton and Mercedes. Before the 2013 season, the Briton came over from McLaren, where he had already taken one world title. With Mercedes, he won six more. The past two seasons were less successful. Nonetheless, it looked like Hamilton would end his career with Mercedes as well. But shortly before testing for '24 was due to start, it was thus announced that Hamilton will seek refuge elsewhere after next season.
