Williams remain Williams according to Vowles: 'It means a lot to me'
Williams will just stay Williams. At least, if it is up to team princiapl James Vowles. Speaking to GPBlog, among others, the Briton says no one needs to start worrying about a potential name with a sponsor in it.
After the Williams family sold the Formula One team to Dorliton Capital, people were worried that the team's name would be changed. Vowles says no one need worry: "I think it’s one of the biggest brands, certainly in motorsports and certainly in the UK,” Vowles says of Williams. He continued: “I also have no desire whatsoever to change it, nor does Dorilton for that matter, because it means a tremendous amount to me. Frank and his legacy remain on in us and you’ll see at the livery now as well."
Vowles loves Williams
The team are incredibly important to the team princiapl, who has seen the team become champions nine times in their lifetime: “You create legacy through championships, through growth, through a tremendous amount of the world believing in you and following you. And so answering your question, Williams means a tremendous amount to me. It’s the first team I really followed. And it’s what I want to retain, because it’s a strength not a weakness.”
