Setback for NASCAR fans! The Daytona 500 scheduled for today has been moved to tomorrow. So reports NASCAR itself on X.

Due to heavy rains, the Daytona 500 has been moved to tomorrow. Monday night at 22:00 CET, 16:00 local time, the engines will be started in Florida. In Daytona Beach, Florida it has been raining heavily for some time and it does not seem to stop today either. Only early in the afternoon on Monday will it stop raining.

Bizarre Crash

Earlier this weekend, qualifying was, logically, underway. During qualifying, there was another big crash by reigning champion Ryan Blaney. The 30-year-old American's car caught fire after he collided with other cars.

Daytona 500

The Daytona 500 is a race raced every February as part of the NASCAR Cup Series. The race is also considered one of the most important races in the US, next to the Indy 500. Over 40 drivers participate in the race. They drive a length of, you wouldn't expect it, 500 miles. Converted to about 805 kilometres. Or about 200 laps. The race is run at Daytona International Speedway. Pole position this year is for the two-time Cup Series champion Joey Logano.
