Verstappen pays no attention to competition: 'Busy enough with myself and the team'
18 February at 17:30

Max Verstappen has been driving Red Bull's cars since 2016, in all those years the car has obviously developed considerably. Although there is one part that has always remained the same. His steering wheel! After the car launch, he tells GPBlog and others why that is and how he looks to compete in 2024.

Speaking to GPBlog and others, Verstappen says he is more than fine with that too: "When I started at Red Bull I just said, 'I'll just take over what Daniel [Ricciardo] has'. And actually I didn't change very much after that either," said Verstappen. "At a certain point you are happy with your steering wheel, everything works reasonably well. Then you don't need to change very much either. The shape has always stayed the same," he continued.

Verstappen busy enough with himself

Verstappen's eye is not necessarily on the competition: "I am busy enough to just be busy with myself, and with the team. That's where the focus is." But if Verstappen can name a team off the grid, it is McLaren: "They are very strong in terms of the line-up. Only with the car, of course, I don't know what they have in store of course. That's also hard to say before Bahrain."
