Ricciardo responds to Horner enquiry: This is what the Australian says
- Ludo van Denderen
While Christian Horner - after a stopover in Austria - is still on his way to Bahrain, the 20 F1 drivers speak to the media one by one. Although the Red Bull Racing team boss is on the plane, there is talk about him during the conversations with the press. Daniel Ricciardo, for example, has known Horner for a long time and is currently driving for Visa Cash App RB.
The case surrounding Horner - who has been accused of inappropriate behaviour by a female colleague - has occupied minds for several weeks. Of course, Daniel Ricciardo has not missed the story. He maintains a good relationship with the British team boss. "Would I say it was an on-track distraction?" the Australian himself reiterated the question to the press including GPblog. "No, it wasn't."
"Knowing we have so little time as well. It was really like I need to focus on me, my team, my driving and try to just start obviously this week as strong as possible. Do I feel for him through all of this? Yes, I've known Christian a long time. He's always been great with me. So I do hope that there is a fair outcome and resolution soon."
'Quick decision on Horner's future'
There will reportedly be an outcome on Horner's future at Red Bull Racing as early as this Wednesday. Ricciardo says it cannot be soon enough: "Hopefully before this weekend so it's not really a distraction for him or obviously anyone in the team. But honestly, for us, we've had to really just focus on ourselves and trying to get on with the task."
