Sergio Perez suffered on his tyres: 'We slipped so much'
Sergio Perez finished second at the Bahrain Grand Prix. A good start to the season for the Mexican, who had a difficult season last year. Now he managed to finish a few seconds ahead of Sainz. How was the race for the Red Bull driver?
"I think it was the maximum we could have achieved,'' Perez said after the race. He continued: "It was quite a tricky race with the management of the tyres. I think there's plenty we will learn from tonight's race which will be important for the championship. But overall, I think it's a great way to start the season."
Last year, Perez also managed to finish second, only then he was just a bit closer to Verstappen and further away from the number three. This time, on the other hand, he managed to move up three places; last season, he also started in the Grand Prix from second place.
Tyre problems for Perez
What Perez was still up against were his tyres: "It was compound to compound with the amount of sliding we were having. We will have some issues with the engine braking and the drivability which is not easy around here because there is plenty of low speed. But like I said I'm sure we will analyse all of that tonight and make sure we learn for Jeddah."
