Debate: Perez is good enough to stay at Red Bull Racing
Sergio Perez's seat at Red Bull Racing is a popular topic. The Mexican's contract still runs until the end of the 2024 season, but will he be allowed to continue driving for the Austrian racing stable after that? Have a say on the statement: 'Perez is good enough to stay at Red Bull Racing'.
Being the teammate of three-time world champion Max Verstappen will not be an easy job. The Dutchman has dominated Formula 1 for several years and so has his teammate, Sergio Perez. The Mexican consistently comes up several tenths short and actually finishes behind Verstappen by default.
Second place is good enough for Perez
Yet Red Bull chiefs, such as team principal Christian Horner and advisor Helmut Marko, have indicated that second place is what they expect from the Mexican. If he is not too far off Verstappen then he still has a chance of a contract extension. In both Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, the 34-year-old managed to finish in second place. Verstappen won both races by the way. If Perez continues to perform as he does now, he could be on course for a new contract at Red Bull Racing.
