Red Bull chances in Melbourne huge according to Marko: 'Great optimism'
Next weekend, the Australian Grand Prix is on the programme. Both the season opener in Bahrain and the second Grand Prix in Saudi Arabia were won by Max Verstappen. Helmut Marko gives his expectations for the third race of the Formula 1 season, and looks ahead to the other races on the calendar.
When Marko is asked what awaits Red Bull in Melbourne, the 80-year-old man from Graz is adamant. "Hopefully the next victory. So far we have had two races at two completely different circuits, and our car was successful at both. So we come to Australia with great optimism," he told OE24.
Marko gets tough question
The RB20 is the fastest car in the field again this season, it seems. Marko does not yet want to burn his fingers on whether Red Bull can win all 24 races this season. "I beg you! Only two of the 24 races have taken place. It got much more exciting in qualifying, where only Max's fast lap made the difference, bringing him pole position twice."
Only last year, Red Bull did not manage to win in Singapore. Then Carlos Sainz ran away with the victory. A similar situation is possible according to Marko. He remains cautious. "When we get to circuits like Monte Carlo or Singapore, where overtaking is very difficult, things look different. In any case, I wouldn't bet on 24 wins for us."
