Perez hopes Australia GP will be 'a bit easier' than last year
20 March at 19:00

Sergio Perez finished second in the past two Grands Prix, behind Max Verstappen. In Australia, the driver born in Guadalajara will get another chance to convince Red Bull, and perhaps impress at the Austrian racing stable for next year's seat. The driver, with number 11 on the car, looks ahead!

Last year, the Mexican expressed ambition to become world champion, saying he would compete for the world title. Last season it did not materialise, but he may be closer to Verstappen this season. In the week without a Formula 1 race, Perez went to the UK, he says.

Perez looks ahead to weekend in Australia

"We have been working hard as a Team since Saudi to improve some areas we identified and I hope the car will be in a better window. I have been in Milton Keynes with my engineers and I am looking forward to seeing how we can perform with some minor changes. The car has felt competitive so far but Albert Park is a totally different test for the RB20 and it will be interesting to see how we match up."

"I think the field will be very competitive this weekend so it’s important we perform in qualifying to put us in a positive place come Sunday. Last year’s race here was a little crazy, so I hope it’s a slightly more straight forward weekend!", Perez said ahead of the weekend in Melbourne.
